Horse Crazy Camp
Rising 6th-8th
Calling all horse lovers! Mosey on over to this exciting camp for kids going into 6th-8th grade who are enthusiastic about all things equine. This unique program will spark a lifelong love of horses as campers learn about everything horsey, from grooming to grain. Whether you’ve never seen a horse up close or have a little experience, we will do our best to accommodate all levels and offer something fun and new.
Camp Highlights
-
Horse Riding: Campers will discover the thrill of horseback riding by mastering the basics of starting/stopping/steering and feeling the excitement of connecting with their horse!
-
Horse Care: Kids will learn how to lead, groom, and take care of horses. As part of taking care of the horses, they’ll also get a feel of how to clean up after a horse, feed them, and bathe them!
-
Animal Interactions: Campers will get to hang out, pet, and enrich our resident horses and goats.
-
Games and Crafts: From playing educational games to crafting a cool horse-themed keepsake, campers will have a blast making memories of their time at camp.
Morning & Afternoon Care
Drop-off time for those without morning extended care is 8:45am or later. Extended care is available for an extra fee from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. You must register in advance for extended care.
If your child isn’t signed up for morning extended care, please plan to drop them off at 8:45 a.m. or later. A late fee of $1.00 per minute applies for late pickups (after 4:00pm without extended care or after 5:00pm with extended care.) If you think timing might be tight, we recommend signing up for extended care to make things easier for everyone!
For safety reasons, please do not drop children off early unless they’re registered for morning extended care. While staff are on-site, they won’t expect your child unless they’re signed up, and we want to be sure every camper is safely checked in.
Children Information
It is important to inform HAWS of any special needs; physical, medical, mental or emotional, that your child may have so that we can provide a successful HAWS experience. Failure to inform HAWS of any of these needs that are necessary to know when instructing your child may result in your child being unable to participate and a loss of program fees.
Payment and Registration
There will be a 30% administrative fee for all cancellations. There will be no refunds or transfers given within two weeks of the start of the program session.
HAWS Membership Discount
HAWS Members can receive a 12% discount off camp registration. Anyone who adopted an animal from HAWS (701 Northview Road in Waukesha) within the last year is a member (this does not apply to adoptions from other organizations).
To take advantage of the 12% membership discount, use the promo code MEMBER26 at check-out. HAWS will check membership status upon receipt of your camp registration.
