Advanced Horse Crazy
Rising 6th-8th
Ready to take your horse knowledge to the next level? This camp is perfect for kids going into 6th-8th grade, who have already gone through a horse camp (or equivalent) experience and are eager to grow their skills both in the saddle and on the ground. In this course, the training wheels are off! Campers will be able to ride on their own, dive deep into many aspects of owning a horse, and bring home horse-themed crafts. If your camper is ready to step up their game and have a ton of fun doing it, it’s time to take the reins and ride!
Camp Highlights
-
Horse Riding: Look Ma, no lead! In this course, campers will build their skills in the saddle by riding off lead and perfecting their body positioning for greater control and balance.
-
Horse Care: Campers will explore the exciting world of horse care! They’ll learn how to handle horse emergencies, discover what goes into keeping their horses healthy and happy, and get the scoop on trailer safety.
-
Animal Adventures: Campers will get to hang out, pet, and enrich our resident horses and goats.
-
Crafts & Games: Time to get creative! Kids will create a memorable keepsake to celebrate their camp experience and join in on fun horse-themed games that are sure to get everyone galloping with joy!
Morning & Afternoon Care
Drop-off time for those without morning extended care is 8:45am or later. Extended care is available for an extra fee from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. You must register in advance for extended care.
If your child isn’t signed up for morning extended care, please plan to drop them off at 8:45 a.m. or later. A late fee of $1.00 per minute applies for late pickups (after 4:00pm without extended care or after 5:00pm with extended care.) If you think timing might be tight, we recommend signing up for extended care to make things easier for everyone!
For safety reasons, please do not drop children off early unless they’re registered for morning extended care. While staff are on-site, they won’t expect your child unless they’re signed up, and we want to be sure every camper is safely checked in.
Children Information
It is important to inform HAWS of any special needs; physical, medical, mental or emotional, that your child may have so that we can provide a successful HAWS experience. Failure to inform HAWS of any of these needs that are necessary to know when instructing your child may result in your child being unable to participate and a loss of program fees.
Payment and Registration
There will be a 30% administrative fee for all cancellations. There will be no refunds or transfers given within two weeks of the start of the program session.
HAWS Membership Discount
HAWS Members can receive a 12% discount off camp registration. Anyone who adopted an animal from HAWS (701 Northview Road in Waukesha) within the last year is a member (this does not apply to adoptions from other organizations).
To take advantage of the 12% membership discount, use the promo code MEMBER26 at check-out. HAWS will check membership status upon receipt of your camp registration.
