Jr Horse Camp
Rising 2nd-5th
This camp is made for kids going into grades 2-5 who are curious about horses and want to get their hands (and boots) into all things horse-related! We’ll start with the basics—safety, body language, and grooming—and then jump straight into some exciting, hands-on horse fun! Whether you’re on horseback or hanging out with the animals, this camp is all about making new friends, both human and furry, and having a blast all week long.
Camp Highlights
-
Horse Time: Kids will get the opportunity to interact with the horses unmounted and mounted.
-
Horse Care: Learn the essential skills needed to care for a horse, from grooming to feeding.
-
Animal Adventures: Campers will get to hang out, pet, and enrich our resident horses and goats.
-
Games and Crafts: Campers will grab their thinking caps as they play exciting (and educational) games and create a special horse-themed craft to take home as a lasting memory of the week!
Morning & Afternoon Care
Drop-off time for those without morning extended care is 8:45am or later. Extended care is available for an extra fee from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. You must register in advance for extended care.
If your child isn’t signed up for morning extended care, please plan to drop them off at 8:45 a.m. or later. A late fee of $1.00 per minute applies for late pickups (after 4:00pm without extended care or after 5:00pm with extended care.) If you think timing might be tight, we recommend signing up for extended care to make things easier for everyone!
For safety reasons, please do not drop children off early unless they’re registered for morning extended care. While staff are on-site, they won’t expect your child unless they’re signed up, and we want to be sure every camper is safely checked in.
Children Information
It is important to inform HAWS of any special needs; physical, medical, mental or emotional, that your child may have so that we can provide a successful HAWS experience. Failure to inform HAWS of any of these needs that are necessary to know when instructing your child may result in your child being unable to participate and a loss of program fees.
Payment and Registration
There will be a 30% administrative fee for all cancellations. There will be no refunds or transfers given within two weeks of the start of the program session.
HAWS Membership Discount
HAWS Members can receive a 12% discount off camp registration. Anyone who adopted an animal from HAWS (701 Northview Road in Waukesha) within the last year is a member (this does not apply to adoptions from other organizations).
To take advantage of the 12% membership discount, use the promo code MEMBER26 at check-out. HAWS will check membership status upon receipt of your camp registration.
