EQUINE EXPLORERS
This program is for 6th - 9th graders who are interested in learning all about horses! Kids will have the unique opportunity to learn about, care for and interact with horses at HAWS Schallock Center for Animals. Some of the topics we cover are basic safety & body language, grooming & leading, basic horse needs & nutrition, and different riding disciplines. Meeting start and end times depend on semester, please see info below:
Winter Semester:
- Meets will take place every Monday starting January 20th- Febuary 24th from 6-8pm
Spring Semester:
- Meets will take place every Monday starting March 31st- May 19th from 6-8pm
Please Note:
· Long pants and close-toed shoes must be worn;
· Handling horses can be physical therefore participants should be comfortable with their mobility and be prepared for exercise.
· To prevent direct threats to the health and safety of the individuals who ride and care for our horses, and for the safety of our horses, for those participating in the riding portion of our program, the weight limit for participants is 225 pounds based on standards accepted by the Certified Horsemanship Association (no more than 20% of the horses body weight).
