EQUINE EXPLORERS
Grades 6-8
Calling all horse enthusiasts in 6th-8th grade – Equine Explorers is here! Get ready for an action-packed club where you'll dive into the world of horses at the HAWS Schallock Center for Animals.
From equine safety and emergencies to the different disciplines and riding styles, participants will walk away from each meeting filled with new knowledge! Each week, you'll get hands-on with our resident horses and discover what it’s like to care for and connect with them. Our horses can’t wait to meet you – are you ready to saddle up?
Program Highlights

Herd Interactions: Learn how to catch, lead, groom and understand a variety of horses.

Equine Exploration: Through fun lessons, learn how to identify and address common emergencies, an intro to nutrition, medical maintenance and more!

Take the Reins: Each participant will have an opportunity to ride throughout the program.

Social Connections: Meet fellow horse enthusiasts and share your passion for all things equine!
Dates: (Mondays 6:00p-8p): 9/29, 10/6, 10/13, 10/20, 10/27, 11/3, 11/10, 11/17
Please Note:
· Long pants and close-toed shoes must be worn;
· Handling horses can be physical therefore participants should be comfortable with their mobility and be prepared for exercise.
· To prevent direct threats to the health and safety of the individuals who ride and care for our horses, and for the safety of our horses, for those participating in the riding portion of our program, the weight limit for participants is 220 pounds based on standards accepted by the Certified Horsemanship Association (no more than 20% of the horses body weight).
