Equine Grief Explorers
Ages 7-10
This unique program offers a compassionate, judgment-free space where children can begin to process grief alongside peers who truly understand what it means to experience loss—whether from the death of a loved one, the passing of a pet, serious illness, or other life changes.
Guided by a trained grief support specialist from Children’s Hospital, the camp blends age-appropriate conversations with expressive activities to help children explore and navigate a wide range of emotions in a safe and caring environment.
- Therapeutic Support and Guided Conversations: Daily support sessions for many types of grief—human, animal, illness-related, or other losses led by a professional grief specialist and
- Equine-Assisted Activities: Hands-on time with horses to build trust, connection, and emotional comfort
- Creative Expression: Art and mindfulness projects that offer gentle ways to process feelings
- Peer Connection: Shared experiences that foster understanding, empathy, and friendship
With the help of our intuitive horses, campers will experience the calming power of grooming, leading, and simply being present with these gentle animals—creating a sense of peace, confidence, and connection throughout their healing journey.

Children Information
It is important to inform HAWS of any special needs; physical, medical, mental or emotional, that your child may have so that we can provide a successful HAWS experience. Failure to inform HAWS of any of these needs that are necessary to know when instructing your child may result in your child being unable to participate and a loss of program fees.
