Kids N Critters One-Day Camp (Ages 10-14)

At our one-day camp, kids will have the opportunity to meet and learn about different animals. Our staff will guide the campers as they discover fun facts about all kinds of critters at HAWS. Counselors will guide and teach kids the important ways to care for pets to ensure they grow up healthy and happy. With increased interactive animal time from the younger age camp, every child will leave with a greater appreciation for the ways staff and volunteers help enrich our animals' lives during their time at the shelter. 

Camp Highlights 

  • Meet & Greet with Shelter Animals: Get up close with shelter animals and learn their unique stories and personalities. 

  • Animal-Themed Games and Challenges: Campers will engage in fun competitions like an "animal ability relay" or "pet jeopardy" to test their animal knowledge! 

  • Interactive Learning Activities: Campers will engage in fun competitions like “adoption matchmaking,” “guess the breed” and designing dog food for shelter animals to taste test! 

Morning & Afternoon Care 

Drop-off time for those without morning extended care is 8:45am or later. Extended care is available for an extra fee from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. You must register in advance for extended care.

A late fee of $1.00 per minute applies for late pickups (after 4:00pm without extended care or after 5:00pm with extended care.) Please help us to help you and sign up for extended care if you have any doubts about your ability to be on time. Also, please do not drop children off early unless they have been registered for morning extended care. We do not want them waiting alone outside.

Children Information

It is important to inform HAWS of any special needs; physical, medical, mental or emotional, that your child may have so that we can provide a successful HAWS experience. Failure to inform HAWS of any of these needs that are necessary to know when instructing your child may result in your child being unable to participate and a loss of program fees.

HAWS Membership Discount

HAWS Members can receive a 12% discount off camp registration. Anyone who adopted an animal from HAWS (701 Northview Road in Waukesha) within the last year is a member (this does not apply to adoptions from other organizations).
