Kids N Critters One-Day
Rising 6-8 Grade
The perfect camp for animal lovers going into grades 6-8! At our week-long camp, kids will have the opportunity to meet and learn about different animals. Our staff will guide the campers as they discover fun facts about all kinds of critters at HAWS. Counselors will guide and teach kids the important ways to care for pets to ensure they grow up healthy and happy. Through hands-on activities, games, and interactive lessons, kids will learn about responsible pet ownership, animal safety, and how to support local shelters. With increased interactive animal time from the younger age camp, every child will leave with a greater appreciation for the ways staff and volunteers help enrich our animals' lives during their time at the shelter.
Camp Highlights
- Meet & Greet with Shelter Animals: Get up close with shelter animals and learn their unique stories and personalities.
-
Create Animal-Themed Crafts: Campers will create a craft with the help of shelter animals to take home and remember their time at camp.
-
Shelter Tour: Explore the shelter’s facilities and learn how the team cares for animals awaiting adoption.
-
Animal-Themed Games and Challenges: Campers will engage in fun competitions like “adoption matchmaking,” “guess the breed” and designing dog food for shelter animals to taste test!
Morning & Afternoon Care
Drop-off time for those without morning extended care is 8:45am or later. Extended care is available for an extra fee from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. You must register in advance for extended care.
If your child isn’t signed up for morning extended care, please plan to drop them off at 8:45 a.m. or later. A late fee of $1.00 per minute applies for late pickups (after 4:00pm without extended care or after 5:00pm with extended care.) If you think timing might be tight, we recommend signing up for extended care to make things easier for everyone!
For safety reasons, please do not drop children off early unless they’re registered for morning extended care. While staff are on-site, they won’t expect your child unless they’re signed up, and we want to be sure every camper is safely checked in.
Children Information
It is important to inform HAWS of any special needs; physical, medical, mental or emotional, that your child may have so that we can provide a successful HAWS experience. Failure to inform HAWS of any of these needs that are necessary to know when instructing your child may result in your child being unable to participate and a loss of program fees.
Payment and Registration
There will be a 30% administrative fee for all cancellations. There will be no refunds or transfers given within two weeks of the start of the program session.
HAWS Membership Discount
HAWS Members can receive a 12% discount off camp registration. Anyone who adopted an animal from HAWS (701 Northview Road in Waukesha) within the last year is a member (this does not apply to adoptions from other organizations).
To take advantage of the 12% membership discount, use the promo code MEMBER25 at check-out. HAWS will check membership status upon receipt of your camp registration.
