Puppy Basics at Hounds & Tap

Our Puppy Basics class at Hounds & Tap is perfect for puppies ages 12 to 25 weeks, offering a fun and engaging environment to help your new furry friend learn essential skills. This class provides a positive, supportive environment where your puppy can start building essential skills for good behavior. With the guidance of our trainers, you’ll work together to lay the groundwork for a strong, well-behaved puppy and a positive relationship.

Class Highlights:

· Puppy Socialization: Safely introduce your puppy to new people, dogs, and environments to build confidence and positive social behaviors.

· Behavior Management: Address common puppy challenges like chewing, biting, and jumping, with effective solutions to help you raise a well-mannered pup.

· Off-Leash Training: With most of the class off-leash, your puppy will have the freedom to learn and practice basics in a fun, interactive way, promoting a more natural learning experience.

· Positive Reinforcement: Use treats and praise to reward good behavior and build trust with your dog.

Prerequisite: Must be between 12 and 25 weeks old, and be fully vaccinated for distemper and bordetella

Harness Required for Class: Almost any harness will be appropriate for any puppy. The harnesses sold at the main shelter have the capibility to clip from the back or front. As puppies grow, individual feedback will be provided when the switch to a front-clip connection is needed. Some small breed dogs will never need to switch to a front-clip harness.

Note: Puppies 5 months and older are required to provide proof of Rabies vaccination. Any puppy turning 5 months during the class will also require Rabies vaccination at that time to continue attending class.
