Animal STEM Camp
Rising 6-8 Grade
Get ready to combine your love of animals with the power of engineering! Campers will dive into the world of creative problem-solving and seeing how things interact. From designing and building their own treat launchers to running real experiments with our resident goats, campers will explore how engineering and animal behavior come together in fun and surprising ways. Bring your curiosity, teamwork and imagination; it’s time to think, build and play like an engineer!
Camp Highlights
-
Hands-On Problem Solving: Use real engineering techniques to solve fun, animal-themed challenges! Campers will brainstorm ideas, test their designs and improve them, just like engineers do!
-
Build Your Own Treat Launcher: Design, test and fine-tune a treat launcher to deliver scrumptious snacks to our animal friends, combining creativity, physics and a little friendly competition.
-
Goat Behavior Experiment: Put your science skills to work, designing and running an experiment to predict how our goats will respond to new stimuli.
-
Creative Collaboration: Team up with fellow campers and come up with new and exciting solutions to problems at the barn.
Morning & Afternoon Care
Drop-off time for those without morning extended care is 8:45am or later. Extended care is available for an extra fee from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. You must register in advance for extended care.
If your child isn’t signed up for morning extended care, please plan to drop them off at 8:45 a.m. or later. A late fee of $1.00 per minute applies for late pickups (after 4:00pm without extended care or after 5:00pm with extended care.) If you think timing might be tight, we recommend signing up for extended care to make things easier for everyone!
For safety reasons, please do not drop children off early unless they’re registered for morning extended care. While staff are on-site, they won’t expect your child unless they’re signed up, and we want to be sure every camper is safely checked in.
Children Information
It is important to inform HAWS of any special needs; physical, medical, mental or emotional, that your child may have so that we can provide a successful HAWS experience. Failure to inform HAWS of any of these needs that are necessary to know when instructing your child may result in your child being unable to participate and a loss of program fees.
Payment and Registration
There will be a 30% administrative fee for all cancellations. There will be no refunds or transfers given within two weeks of the start of the program session.
HAWS Membership Discount
HAWS Members can receive a 12% discount off camp registration. Anyone who adopted an animal from HAWS (701 Northview Road in Waukesha) within the last year is a member (this does not apply to adoptions from other organizations).
To take advantage of the 12% membership discount, use the promo code MEMBER26 at check-out. HAWS will check membership status upon receipt of your camp registration.
