Kids N Critters Winter Camp (Ages 7-12)

Bundle up for a day of animal adventures! At our one-day winter camp, kids will step into the world of shelter pets and discover how to be the best friends animals could ever ask for. Through hands-on activities, games, and crafts, campers will learn the essentials of responsible pet care while celebrating the magic of the winter season.

Campers will explore what animals need to stay healthy and happy, practice safety skills around pets, and discover how shelters care for animals in need. Along the way, they’ll meet real shelter animals, try winter-themed games, and create their own animal-inspired winter crafts. It’s the perfect mix of learning, laughter, and love for animals!

Camp Highlights 

  • Meet & Greet with Shelter Animals: Interact with adoptable animals and our animal ambassadors and learn what makes all of them so fun 

  • Winter Animal Games & Challenges: Compete in frosty fun like the Winter Pet Care Relay and Winter Animal Jobs.

  • Seasonal Crafts & Activities: Create wintery animal-themed crafts to take home or gift to an adoptable for their families to take home.

  • Animal Care Lessons: Build lifelong skills in kindness, safety, and responsibility with animals.

Morning & Afternoon Care 

Drop-off time for those without morning extended care is 8:45am or later. Extended care is available for an extra fee from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. You must register in advance for extended care.

If your child isn’t signed up for morning extended care, please plan to drop them off at 8:45 a.m. or later. A late fee of $1.00 per minute applies for late pickups (after 4:00pm without extended care or after 5:00pm with extended care.) If you think timing might be tight, we recommend signing up for extended care to make things easier for everyone!

For safety reasons, please do not drop children off early unless they’re registered for morning extended care. While staff are on-site, they won’t expect your child unless they’re signed up, and we want to be sure every camper is safely checked in.

Children Information

It is important to inform HAWS of any special needs; physical, medical, mental or emotional, that your child may have so that we can provide a successful HAWS experience. Failure to inform HAWS of any of these needs that are necessary to know when instructing your child may result in your child being unable to participate and a loss of program fees.

Payment and Registration

There will be a 30% administrative fee for all cancellations. There will be no refunds or transfers given within two weeks of the start of the program session. 

HAWS Membership Discount

HAWS Members can receive a 12% discount off camp registration. Anyone who adopted an animal from HAWS (701 Northview Road in Waukesha) within the last year is a member (this does not apply to adoptions from other organizations).
