Winter Jr Horse Crazy Camp

Grades 2-5

It's a winter wonderland at the Schallock Center for Animals (SCA)! Join us for this exciting and educational one-day camp and experience the magic of the barn in a whole new way. Through hands-on learning, fun themed crafts, and a horseback riding opportunity, campers will have a blast with the horses and goats at SCA. You won't want to miss out on this winter barn adventure!

Camp Highlights

Swing into the Saddle: Campers will get an opportunity to ride in our semi-heated indoor arena.
Winter Adaptations at the Barn: Learn how horses stay healthy and comfortable through the chilly Wisconsin winter.
Seasonal Crafts & Activities: Make winter crafts and participate in educational activities that tie into what we're learning.
Make New Friends: Build connections with fellow animal lovers through fun group games and shared experiences caring for our resident animals.

NOTE: THIS CAMP WILL BE HELD INSIDE OF OUR SEMI HEATED BARN. THE FACILITY WILL BE WARMER THAN THE OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE, BUT IT CAN STILL GET CHILLY. PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY!

** HAWS has safety as our top priority. Animal interactions and activities involving animals are at staff discretion. Due to weather or for the well-being of our animals, the schedule may be adjusted for the safety and comfort of both the campers and animals.

Morning & Afternoon Care

Drop-off time for those without morning extended care is 8:45am or later. Extended care is available for an extra fee from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. You must register in advance for extended care.

If your child isn’t signed up for morning extended care, please plan to drop them off at 8:45 a.m. or later. A late fee of $1.00 per minute applies for late pickups (after 4:00pm without extended care or after 5:00pm with extended care.) If you think timing might be tight, we recommend signing up for extended care to make things easier for everyone!

For safety reasons, please do not drop children off early unless they’re registered for morning extended care. While staff are on-site, they won’t expect your child unless they’re signed up, and we want to be sure every camper is safely checked in.

It is important to inform HAWS of any special needs; physical, medical, mental or emotional, that your child may have so that we can provide a successful HAWS experience. Failure to inform HAWS of any of these needs that are necessary to know when instructing your child may result in your child being unable to participate and a loss of program fees.

It is important that our team have the necessary information regarding your child's individual needs so that we can create a fulfilling and memorable experience for them.

Payment and Registration

There will be a 30% administrative fee for all cancellations. There will be no refunds or transfers given within two weeks of the start of the program session.
